Education
The Flushing Community School District includes the city of Flushing, most of Flushing Township and parts of Clayton, Flint, and Mt. Morris Townships. Found within the district are four elementary, one Junior High, and one Senior High School. Additionally, there is one private school in the city of Flushing. St. Roberts is a parochial elementary school. Powers Catholic High School serves the Genesee County area and is located approximately 15 miles from Flushing.
Genesee County has four campuses which offer post-high school work. They are: Mott Community College, University of Michigan-Flint, Baker College and Kettering University. Other state universities in the vicinity are the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and Michigan State University in East Lansing, both approximately 60 miles away.
The county also has a large number of private vocational training facilities. These facilities include training by professional schools (e.g. nursing), trades, business, beauty and barber schools, art and music schools, correspondence schools, etc.
